Bob (75) is Tom’s grandfather and the prototype of an Antwerp Vlaams Belang voter. Once he was a dyed-in-the-wool socialist, a worker, a diamond cutter who would always help fight for the rights of the weak, the workers, in short: the socially oppressed. However, over the years his view of the world has gradually darkened. He has found it hard to accept the arrival of the migrants and the rapid evolution of society. The social victories have become undermined and the dichotomy of the world no longer exists. Black and white have taken on different shades of grey. This is not a positive evolution for Bob and he does not understand that his son does not see this. However, behind the gruff mask there is a man who is willing to fight one more battle for his ideals and who is more open to the world than one first thinks.
